Prenatal and Birth Support — Postpartum Support
Birth Doula Support
As your doula I provide prenatal visits, remain with you through your labor and delivery, and offer a postpartum visit. I provide educational materials, and birth support tailored to your needs.
In prenatal visits we address your desires and concerns surrounding birth, and practice comfort and support measures for you and your partner to use prenatally and during labor. These can include movement and positions for labor, pain management techniques, and meditation and affirmation practices.
During labor, you may want help breathing through intense birthing waves, or communicating your needs to your care provider. You might want physical support such as massage, warm or cold compresses, a bath or shower, or assistance changing positions and moving around. Together we can create an environment in which you feel safe and supported to welcome new life.
The postpartum visit is an opportunity to reflect on your birth experience, tell your story, and admire your new baby. It is also a chance to talk about the challenges of adjusting to new parenthood, and find resources to support you on this journey.
Postpartum Doula Support
Adjusting to life with a new baby can be difficult, joyful, exhausting, and so much more. The postpartum doula support I offer is tailored to each family based on their needs. Some of these services include rest for parents who need to catch up on sleep, assistance with infant care and feeding, and help maintaining their home. Often parents could use someone who will listen without judgement, and encourage them on their journey.
As a Certified Lactation Counselor, I support your infant feeding choices, and strive to help you and your baby find the feeding relationship that works for you.
Postpartum doula sessions can be scheduled as frequently as is beneficial to your family, and usually are 4-8 hours per visit. Night support is also available.
What about my partner?
If a partner is joining you in your pregnancy and labor, they can be a vital support. My role as your doula is to ensure that you both are heard, well informed, and supported physically and emotionally throughout your birth and postpartum period. Birth can be a world altering experience for partners as well, and the support of a doula can empower both of you to welcome your new baby without fear.
